It has been brought to my attention that my lovely spoiler, Daisy Clearwater, is not in Slytherin House. I should have known! She's far to generous and nice to be a Slitherin... :) She is a Hufflepuff.

A grande old owl named Humperdink arrived today, bearing a package for me from Fiera Firenze.
Take a look at MY BLOG to see everything that I got!
Round three of the dueling club will begin on Saturday, November 1st. Please note that the sock duelers will be getting a week off so that the semi-final and final rounds of both brackets are held at the same time. However, if you would like to practice your spells, I am going to post a “just for fun” sock pattern for you to try.
Here are the materials each of you will require:
Crochet Hat Pattern Specifications
The crocheted hat will require worsted weight yarn. You will need 1 – 2 skeins of your selected yarn. You will also be using an H (5.0 mm) hook. There is no recommended gauge but the pattern does list instructions for sizing (which you will see upon the pattern release).
Knit Hat Pattern Specifications
The knit hat can be crafted using any yarn, however worsted weight (or thicker) is recommended. You will need 1 – 2 skeins of your selected yarn. The needle sizing is a bit tricky. Basically, you may use the needle size recommended by the yarn type you are using. Depending on how you would like to style the hat, you may need to adjust to use a needle size slightly smaller than the recommended size. However, you will need DPNs, and a 24” circular needle in the size selected. Optional materials include a 16” circular needle in your selected needle size. There is no recommended gauge but the pattern does list instructions for sizing (which you will see upon the pattern release).
Special (and Optional) “Bye Week” Sock Pattern Specifications
The sock knitters will require approximately 440 yards of fingering weight sock yarn in two colors (220 yards of each). You will also be using US 1.5 (2.5 mm) double pointed needles (or size needed for gauge – set of five needles) and/or a US 1.5 (2.5 mm) circular needle, if you prefer magic loop. You will also need a yarn needle and stitch markers. The recommended gauge is 30 stitches and42 rows is equal to 4" in stockinette. Optional materials include 3 yards of a contrasting fingering weight yarn.
Reminders
Once again, you will have to contact your partner to get their address, sizing information and color preferences. I will e-mail a copy of the bracket to you shortly. Sizing is key to this round of the duel so make sure you are accurate in your measurements.
The patterns will be posted on the HSKS6 blog THIS Saturday, November 1st at 9:00 AM CST.

Good morning Slytherin!
This week you have two choices for a quiz:
1. Post a pic of you and/or your kids (2-legged or 4-legged) dressed up celebrating Halloween.
and/or
2. Write about your favorite Halloween story (real or imaginary).
Please post no later than Saturday at 5:00 pm Hogwarts time (clock on hsks6.blogspot.com).
I have received a lovely package from my spoiler, Emma Gorodok of Slytherin. Details and photos may be found at my blog.
I sent Humperdink, my grandpa's owl, which I recently inherited, off today with Antonio's package. Although old, Humperdink has a lot of energy and stamina, so he should be there hopefully by the end of the week. He can be a bit cranky after long flights though, so you might want to have a few extra owl treats lying around, Antonio. Hope you enjoy your package! :)
Victoria Pettigrew!
With honorable mention to Morag the Monster Cuddler
Both had very amusing answers to their questions and CentyB and I are suckers for a laugh!
Congratulations Victoria!
Party in the Common Room!

Hey Hufflepuffs!
Watch for your next Hufflepuff Herald, for news and signup instructions for the Hufflepuff Wizard Cracker Exchange. Now that you've mostly finished your handmade items, we can take a minute to spoil each other with some good wizarding fun!
At Hogwarts, crackers are a fun part of the Christmas dinner. Our term finishes much earlier than that, so we're going to have Wizard Cracker fun for all sorts of Holidays - or just because.
I've posted a "make a cracker" tutorial here. For more information on crackers:

Professor [1] was having a terrible morning, and it wasn't even breakfast yet. Someone broke into the [2] classroom the night before, hid a Boggart in the closet, and set loose [3] doxies. How did he know there were 73 doxies? Because each one took a bite out of his [5] as he tried to capture it, and Madame Pomfrey had to [6] each wound separately. And comment annoyingly about how Professor [4] would've had the room cleared out with 2 waves of a wand.
It took forever to get out of the infirmary, and by then Professor [1] was in a foul mood. Luckily, he knew how to improve it: by finding the culprits and making him, her or them pay. [1] had overheard some students giggling in the hallways the other day about [7]'s stash of doxy eggs, so he had a good idea of who to interrogate first. Unfortunately for him, but rather fortunately for [7], the common room password had recently been changed to [8], so [1] couldn't enter. [9] looked up from (his/her/their) portrait and laughed at the cursing, frustrated Professor.
The old Professor [1] would have thrown a hissy fit at being taunted by a mere portrait, and blasted the thing all the way into the [10]th floor girl's bathroom. The new Professor [1] went to [11] weeks of Anger Management classes, punched a lot of pillows, and took up [12]. And started subscribing to the Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes catalogue.
Professor [1]'s first class off the day was [2] with the 3rd year Hufflepuffs and [13]. It took them 2 hours to clean up after the entire carton of [14] that went off and clung to their robes, schoolbooks, and any exposed flesh. The students all knew that [7] was planning to do something in [2] to get Professor [1], so everyone blamed (him/her) for the prank and gave (him/her) the cold shoulder for 17 days, until [15] blew up the [16] classroom with a misplaced charm and became the new pariah-of-the-hour.

Look no further than the shoppe that Kwikspell has been moonlighting with - compass found here - http://knitster1.wordpress.com/ To cinch the deal you must reveal the exact page link while also telling me of one specific item on the page."

- The snitch is at the bottom of that page BUT Minerva Wood found and posted the link only. The second to last clue wanted an item on the page. So I posted both and "Soar Ravenclaw!"

Due to me having my weeks messed up, I think it might have to do with my nightly visits to Hog's Head, the weekly quiz has been canceled. If you have all ready done the quiz, do not fret, the quiz will be used next week.
In its place, we will have a rip roaring game of quidditch instead.
I also have my cheer leading uniform in a nice safe place so this time it will not end up at the top of the Whomping willow.

Hello, Chickadees!!! How is your swapping going? Are you all getting along? I know there were some differences of opinion going on between Wisteria and Lav. Did that get all settled? How is the duel going, dearies? I do hope there will be no bloodshed!
Non posters cost each house -10 for each week that posting is missed. When everyone posts the points will remain the same as the week previous. Because there were no other oppotunities to earn points last week and EVERYONE posted (woohoo!!) the points will remain the same for week 3 of the swap. Keep up the good work and continue all the chatter!
Labels: Daily Prophet
Round two of the dueling club will begin on Friday, October 10th. Here are the materials each of you will require:
Crochet Hat Pattern Specifications
The crocheted hat will require worsted weight or bulky weight yarn (less than 200 yards total). You will also be using a J (6.0 mm) hook with worsted weight or a K hook for bulky weight. There is no recommended gauge.
Knit Hat Pattern Specifications
The knit hat will require a skein (less than 200 yards) of worsted weight yarn. You will also be using US 8 (5mm) knitting needles. Tools include a cable needle and yarn needle (for tucking in the ends). There are some optional tools for this pattern including a size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook and US 10.5 (6.5 mm) knitting needles but, as you will see, these are not essential to complete the hat. The gauge is listed as 18 stitches and 24 rows is 4” in stockinette stitch (on the US 8 needles).
Sock Pattern Specifications
The sock knitters will require approximately 440 yards of fingering weight sock yarn. You will also be using US 2 double pointed needles (or size needed for gauge – set of five needles) and or a US 2 circular needle, if you prefer magic loop. You will also need a yarn needle and stitch markers. The recommended gauge is 8 sts = 1” in the specified pattern, so you will need to do a gauge swatch after receiving the pattern to be exact.
Reminders
Once again, you will have to contact your partner to get their address, sizing information and color preferences. I will e-mail a copy of the bracket to you shortly.
The patterns will be posted on the HSKS6 blog THIS Friday, October 10th at 2:00 PM CST and the dueling will begin!

Dear Fellow Students
Due to a small financial misunderstanding I am cut off from the internet at the moment.
This problem should be solved in a few days, but in the meantime, I am not able to be in contact with you from home. I am writing this (very illegally, but hey, Slytherin) at work.
I will ask Eugene to keep a look out for homework and other assignments until I am back online, so if you need to tell me anything, tell him alright?
Do you think it will be ok if I use a curse on these people?
